Service Description

Land Based Learning courses are primarily intended for teachers and their classes. These presentations will briefly introduce you to the main elements of Indigenous Knowledge and how they can be understood within the context of Land Based Learning. Girth Hitch & Zuc’min Guiding have partnered to bring you this unique Indigenous experience. This adventure will empower you on a journey towards a greater connection with Indigenous perspectives. You will come away feeling more connected to the land and Indigenous ways of seeing our mountainous landscape. Our guides create a safe environment bringing together Western, Indigenous and Guiding knowledge to help you understand Indigenous mountain knowledge. Wear hiking clothing and layers (prepare for all types of weather) Please arrive with lunch, water, a full tank of gas, and be ready to adventure. Come with openness and questions. Who is this for? Professors and educators who want their class to understand more about Indigenous place-based learning. Typically land-based learning has occurred within the family and community using knowledge holders of the specific activity one wants to learn. Knowledge holders pass on specific skills and the importance of not just learning but continuing the knowledge.
